Dental disease is, unfortunately, one of the most commonly seen problems of both dogs and cats. It is far from being just an aesthetic problem and a matter of bad breath, but a condition that can significantly contribute to the deterioration of your pet’s general health. We constantly educate our clients about the ways they can help to keep their pet’s teeth clean and gums healthy and our animal clinic carries a number of products that will help them to achieve this.
At Prince Edward Animal Clinic, we routinely perform dentistry: from prophylactic cleaning (scaling, polishing, applying protective fluoride) to more involving dental and oral procedures that include extractions, fistular repairs and others. Our dental X-ray machine will in many cases help getting a more accurate diagnosis and better treatment plan.
Veterinary dentistry is always performed under general anesthesia. The same principles of anesthesia apply to any surgical procedure. Every patient undergoes a thorough examination and has a blood profile done before the procedure, to make everything safe.
Patients are released to go home from the veterinary hospital at the end of the day, with the necessary medications that the veterinarian prescribes for them.
Should you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact our pet hospital and talk to our staff or the veterinarian!
